Sonlight Core 6

I'll admit that I used to mentally roll my eyes at people who got so excited over their Sonlight orders, but this was before I was completely "converted" to their curriculum. Almost everything we use is now from Sonlight. This morning we were merrily plugging along in our school activities when "the boxes" were discovered on the front porch. It felt like Christmas to me. Honestly, I'd rather receive books that any other gift so it was a gift extravaganza in my mind. Another gift was to see my children's excitement. The first question our of Anne's mouth is "Did we get the Language Arts Instructor Guide too? Can I look at it?" Peter immediately grabbed four history books (dealing with war of course) and tried to take them to his room. I had to announce "None of these books can leave this room!". I had to check my order after all; it really had nothing to do with books that I had not looked at leaving my sight! LOL

To commemorate the festivities I pulled out my camera...the event had to be recorded.

Anne's Pet Photos

Anne has continued to take photos since the afternoon we spent working on outdoor photography. She spent an hour or two working to capture good photos of our pets. She discovered that pets often do not cooperate and getting a good photograph of them takes time and patience. I didn't hesitate to point out that sometimes I've had the same experience with her and her brother (especially when they were younger)!

What a Weekend!

What a wonderful weekend it has been! In addition to having gorgeous weather, we've spent time with family, had a lots of fun, attended two Kung Fu events where we got to see Peter & Anne perform...and (most exciting of all) Peter was promoted to a red sash with a black stripe on Friday evening! He is now just one belt/sash away from black. He has worked so hard and has shown so much determination and dedication. We are so proud of him!

Nature Center Field Trip

I must have Spring fever because I could not resist learning outdoors today! Maybe it has something to do with it being a beautiful Spring day and it being Friday? We had perfect weather: sunny and not too hot or too cold. We went to a nearby nature center

and had a great time enjoying the animals and our time together.

Digital Photography

Last week began with snow and ended with gorgeous spring weather! What extremes! On Friday, Peter, Anne and I couldn't resist spending sometime learning outdoors. I decided to teach them a little about photography mainly focusing on good composition. I was pleased with the results. I was ecstatic about the excitement that Peter and Anne had about photographing nature.
